Bistek is a classic Filipino and very delicious medley of salty, tangy, and savory flavors served with a steamed rice dish. Thin slices of beef are marinated in soy sauce, lemon, garlic, and brown sugar; sautéed with onions and bay leaves.
Main Ingredients:
Sirloin Beef
Garlic
Onions
Lemon juice
Soy sauce
Vegetable oil
Bay leaves
Brown sugar
Water
Cornstarch
Procedure:
- Tenderize the meat and place the meat in a bowl. Add minced onions, minced garlic, soy with lemon juice and mix well with your hands so that each meat is covered by the mixture. Cover and let it marinate for at least two hours or overnight for the best results.
- After marinating at your desired time. Squeeze each meat with your hands to remove excess marinate from the meat. Set aside the marinate mixture.
- In a wok heat oil in medium heat add bay leaves cook it both sides until brown set aside. Add onion rings, just cook it slightly and caramelized, remove in the pan and set aside.
- On the same pan, raise the medium-high heat and place the beef and cook it for 5 mins one each side. Place the beef on a serving plate. On the same pan, low the heat and add the marinating mixture. Let it boil for 5 mins. Add some water to cornstarch mix until it will dissolve and place in the mixture pan. Stirring constantly until the mixture becomes thicker. Pour the sauce over beef and arrange the onions and bay leaves on top of it. Serve hot and Enjoy!
